Nana Varveropoulou was born in Athens in 1977. She spent most of her childhood in a small park in Pagrati, sitting on a bench with her grandma, observing the world pass by. This led her to start taking pictures.
She came to London in 1999, where she continued observing and taking pictures. She did not spend much time in London parks because she found them scary. Instead, she dedicated her time to studying her BA and MA in photography at the University of the Arts, and to developing her career as a freelance photographer and artist, working for various UK and European publications and exhibiting nationally and internationally. Nana is currently a senior lecturer in Photography at the Kingston School of Art.
More and more, she reminds herself of her grandma.
